Cycling through Vietnam is one of the best ways to explore this mesmerising country. This ride provides opportunities to meet the locals and experience their culture in a way that would not otherwise be possible. Even better, you will be helping the most disadvantaged children in Vietnam receive a decent education – eliminating them from the cycle of poverty.
The Great Vietnam Bike Ride is a fun, friendly and challenging holiday. It’s an opportunity to spend time overseas, whilst also enjoying luxurious adventure. Each rider will stay in 4 star hotels, and a dedicated support crew will make your journey unforgettable.
ABOUT THE SAIGON CHILDREN’S SOCIETY
The Great Vietnam Bike Ride was created to make travel experiences more meaningful and life changing for both the participants and the beneficiaries of the money raised. We have chosen to support the Saigon’s Children Charity (SCC) because they positively impact the lives of the most disadvantaged children in Vietnam, to eliminate poverty through education. The impact SCC makes is significant. You will be making a difference… many others just think about it. You can make a difference.
It is quite simple. Your fund raising allows a child to receive a good education, graduate from school and go onto further education, facilitating a worthwhile and bright future.
Your support will help provide scholarships for children. This means that they can resist the demands and pressures to work and can have the opportunity to go school. Education is one of the best gifts you can give someone.
As part of The Great Vietnam Bike Ride, you will be able to see how your fundraising will make a difference.
A prerequisite for all riders on the tour is to raise at least AUD $500. This means disadvantaged children receive an education for an entire year by:

Today we will experience a relaxed day of riding around the Imperial city of Hue. You will visit the Hue Citadel, home to 13 Emperors of the Nguyen Dynasty, the last Dynasty in Vietnam.
We will then bike ride to Thien Mu Pagoda “the land of the peace” – one of the iconic symbols of Hue.
In the afternoon we will take a short bike ride over the Perfume River to the tombs of the Nguyen Kings, including Tu Dec Emperor’s tomb.
We’ll then head back, stopping to get some organic coffee and then on to the hotel for some leisure time, perhaps even a massage for those tired legs?
Today’s ride is a little more challenging, meandering through the local hillside area, enjoying some of the most picturesque and breathtaking scenery you may have ever seen. At times challenging, at others easier, we will wave as locals pass by, going about their daily business as we breathe in the crisp, fresh air of the countryside.
We start the day on a guided tour through the ancient town of Hoi An, stopping for lunch. There’s the opportunity for some shopping, purchasing compact lanterns or silk wares. It is amazing what you can fit in your back pack! The afternoon is at your leisure – your perfect opportunity to purchase some bigger items, perhaps some exceptional tailor made clothes? You can also shop, cook, drink and explore. Hoi An is a genuine gem of a town, unlike any other!

Tonight, we will be having dinner at a riverside restaurant, watching stars twinkle on the river or perhaps enjoy a lantern festival, something both locals and tourists embrace. After dinner discover the lantern lights in the Old Quarter, another stunningly unique experience!
Today we ride along the majestic coastline where we will stop at Son My (also known as the hamlet of My Lai). We will visit a memorial for the villagers who were killed during the Vietnam War. The My Lai site is a small rural settlement, surrounded by simple thatched huts, quilted rice paddies and farmers with conical hats going about their day-to-day routines. We continue to cycle to Quang Ngai where we will enjoy dinner at the hotel after our long ride.
Today we travel by bus for two hours to reach our start destination in the jungle. We will pedal along quiet roads rarely visited by tourists. There are two significant slopes today (10-12%), but the best scenes can be seen behind you after making the challenging journey to the summit. Lunch will be fresh seafood at the fishing village along the road, then we will reach Qui Nhon in the late afternoon. Dinner will be at a renowned local restaurant.
After breakfast, we will ride from the hotel on the hidden roads until to the CU Mong Lagoon. We may collect some fresh shrimps there for lunch. After lunch, we will loop back toward the main highway where you will have the option of cycling or transferring by vehicle to Tuy Hoa.
Depart from the hotel for a 20-kilometre ride past a network of lush rice fields which blanket the valley. We will immerse ourselves in the ocean view around the Vung Ro Bay before meeting the pass, which is the natural border between the two provinces of Binh Dinh and Khanh Hoa. You will then descend to stunning Dai Lanh Beach where you will stop for a refreshing swim and some snacks.
Next we will continue pedalling along the coast for three kilometres and then turn on to the Hon Gom peninsular road for the final twenty kilometres to celebrate your cycling adventure.
Now for the highlight of the day, a Hot spring retreat to rejuvenate your body and refuel your energy!
Today there is free time to relax before we depart to Ho Chi Minh (Saigon). Upon arrival, we will visit a shelter sponsored by the Saigon Children’s Charity.
Tonight we will enjoy a Gala Dinner in Saigon, benefitting the Saigon Children’s Charity that we visited earlier.
